Noises Off, by playwright Michael Frayn, tells the tale of a theatre company presenting a “dreadful sex comedy” titled Nothing On. (For “sex comedy” think any Doris Day movie, nothing graphic.) Act I takes place during the rehearsal, Act II we see backstage during a performance and Act III we see the performance as it has deteriorated over the course of the run. The film version of the play starred Carol Burnett, Michael Caine, Christopher Reeve, John Ritter among others.
