Symphonic
Band hosts 'As American As Pie' fundraiser
MARSHFIELD –
“As American As Pie” – a pizza pie and dessert pie fund raiser
to support two performances of next year’s Sousa Concert – will
be held prior to the May 9 Sousa Concert starting at 6 p.m.
“The Sousa
Concert is a popular, cultural experience here in Marshfield,”
said Dr. David De Lyser, assistant professor of music at
UW-Marshfield/Wood County. “It has been so popular, that for
the last several years, we have sold out and had to turn people
away. We want to expand the event to two performances next year
– Monday, April 30, and Tuesday, May 1, – to provide an
opportunity for everyone to attend.”
Adding a
second performance, however, increases expenses. In order to
maintain affordable ticket prices, the symphonic band and music
department will be selling pies to offset those increased
expenses.
Slices of
pizza, provided by Pizza Man, Marshfield, and slices of dessert
pies will be sold in Gallery 450, starting at 6 p.m. before the
concert. Slices will also be sold during intermission. All
proceeds will be used to fund the 2007 Sousa concerts, De Lyser
said. |
