The following
UW-Marshfield/Wood County faculty and staff have recently
received awards grants, presented papers and/or attended
conferences.
●
Laurie Petri, academic
librarian, received the Arthur M. Kaplan Faculty and Staff
Performance Award for 2005-06. She was nominated for the
award by Dean Andrew Keogh for “significant and innovative
improvement of instruction.” Petri started at the campus in
October 2002 as an associate academic librarian. She was
promoted to academic librarian in fall and was instrumental
in working on the recent renovation of the Hamilton Roddis
Memorial Library.
● Dawn
Messerschmidt, program associate in Student Services, was
named Classified
Employee of the Year for 2005-06, based upon her commitment
to students and the campus community. She has been with the
campus since 2003.
● Dr. John
Pruitt, English professor,
defended his dissertation
in October. In November, he chaired “The Politics of British
Literary Collections” Panel at the Midwest Modern Language
Association Convention. He also has been asked to serve on
the National Council of Teachers of English Advisory
Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues
in Academic Studies.
● Dr.
Paige Muellerleile, psychology professor, has authored an
article “Sufficiency
and Stability of Evidence for Public Health Interventions
using Cumulative Meta-Analysis,” which will be published in
the American Journal of Public Health in March.
●
Dr. Jeff Kleiman, history professor, is taking four
UW-Marshfield/Wood County students and one student from
Marshfield Senior High to Poland and Germany on a study
abroad program associated with his history class, “The
Holocaust: Politics of Peace, Nationalism and War.” The
group leaves Jan. 5 and returns Jan. 20. Thematically, the
first week’s travel deals with the origins of the ideals and
bureaucratic machinery of the genocide. The second week
provides students a chance to visit places notable for the
implementation of those ideas. This is the first time a
study abroad opportunity has been offered on the Marshfield
campus.
●
Ruth Elderbrook, director of the Hamilton Roddis Memorial
Library, was elected to the University Foundation at the
UW-Marshfield/Wood County Board of Directors. She will be
chairing the foundation’s major fundraiser, Food For
Thought, on April 8.
●
Leann Pabich-Schiller has been named coordinator for the
University Foundation. She will be responsible for
the foundation’s fund drives, activities, volunteers, record
keeping and materials. Pabich-Schiller is also a board
member and human resources specialist for Pabich’s
Residential Facility Inc. in Greenwood, and is owner of
Paws-A-Moment LLC dog bakery.
