Auditions for the Campus
Community Players production of “Crimes of the Heart,” Beth
Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, will be Wednesday
and Thursday, Feb. 15 and 16, in the Helen Connor Laird
Theatre at UW-Marshfield/Wood County.
This irreverent, warm-hearted
portrayal centers on the McGrath sisters as they struggle to
make sense of their lives. Lenny is the caring older sister
who has sacrificed herself to care for their ailing
grandfather. Wild middle sister Meg left behind her family
and lover to pursue a singing career; and the newly
rebellious Babe, they youngest,
faces prison for shooting
her abusive husband.
The trio's reunion in
their hometown of Hazlehurst, Miss., triggers a hilarious
mix of conflicts, crises and revelations. For sisters or
anyone who has sisters, it is easy to recognize the unique
bond formed by a shared history of victories and defeats,
laughter and tears.
Performances
are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, April 21-22 and
