Rationale:
● The longer
students are enrolled in the UW Colleges before transferring
to a four-year institution, the more likely they are to
graduate.
● The seamless transfer from UW-Marathon County or
UW-Marshfield/Wood County to UW-Stevens Point – via dual
enrollment – allows students benefits from all three
institutions and allows students to focus more fully on
academics.
How it works:
● Students can choose to enroll in either UWMC or UW-M/WC
and UW-Stevens Point via a dual enrollment agreement.
● Students who are accepted into the program can take
courses at one, two or all three institutions that will
count toward a bachelor’s degree.
● Students in the program will be expected to complete a
minimum of 42 credits at either UW-M/WC or UWMC.
● Those who will be sophomores at either UWMC or UW-M/WC
can apply for entrance into the UW Central Wisconsin
Connection program after earning at least 30 credits with a
cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and completing UW Colleges
general education courses with a “C” or better.
Benefits to students include:
● Courses taken at any of the three institutions will
count toward a bachelor’s degree.
● Library privileges at all three campuses.
● Opportunities for campus housing at UWSP and UWMC.
● Academic advising from UWSP and UW-M/WC or UWMC.
● Access to recreational facilities at all 3 campuses
● Access to health services, counseling and career
advising at UWSP.
● Access to health insurance through UWSP (fee required).
Summary of benefits:
● Creates a strong connection between students at the
2-year colleges and UWSP early in students’ college careers.
● Encourages students at the 2-year colleges to maintain
their primary enrollment at those campuses through their
sophomore year.
● Provides extra advising and career guidance to help
create a smooth transition to the 4-year campus.
● Provides UWSP students with additional educational and
extra-curricular opportunities at UWMC and UW-M/WC.
● Provides more awareness of campus life, services
and opportunities at UWSP
