Three area University of
Wisconsin campuses have formed a regional partnership that
will smooth the path to more bachelor’s degree opportunities
in central Wisconsin.
The University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP), The UW-Marathon County (UWMC)
and the UW-Marshfield/Wood County (UW-M/WC) have formed the
UW Central Wisconsin Connection, a collaboration intended to
facilitate the ease of transfer from the two-year Colleges
to UWSP.
The Connection collaboration will
dually-admit qualifying students from UWMC or UW-M/WC to
UWSP, giving them access to career and academic advising at
both campuses, which will make the transfer of credits
seamless. Numerous other benefits are also part of the
agreement.
A press conference to formalize
the agreement and outline further benefits will be held at
the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County at 11 a.m. on
Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Terrace Room (100). UWMC is
located at 518 S. 7th Ave., Wausau.
Present at the press conference
will be UW Regent Mark Bradley, UW System President Kevin
Reilly, UWSP Chancellor Linda Bunnell, UWMC Dean Jim Veninga
and UW-M/WC Dean Andy Keogh. The press will have an
opportunity for live interviews immediately after the press
conference.
