  • Back to Media Home Page

Vote for a Campus Community Players summer musical!  Choices are:

q  “Bye, Bye Birdie,” Music by Charles Strouse; lyrics by Lee Adams

Conrad Birdie is the biggest rock & roll star of the 60's ever to be drafted into the Army. His agent hatches a scheme for a last publicity stunt to get out of debt. The ingenious scheme sees a wake of teenage hysteria sweep the nation as Birdie bestows his final pre-induction kiss on Kim MacAfee, of Sweet Apple, Ohio, a randomly chosen fan club member. You'll be singing the songs "What's the Matter with Kids Today,"  "Telephone Song." "We Love You Conrad" and “Put on a Happy Face.” Visit http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6133908&style=music&cart=301727636&BAB=M to hear songs.

q  “Working,” Music by Music is by Stephen Schwartz, James Taylor, Micki Grant, Craig Carnelia, and Mary Rodgers

Based on the best-selling book of interviews with American workers by Studs Terkel, “Working” explores the American workday from the Monday morning blues to the second shift blahs using the original words of some uncommon common men and women. Twenty-six workers sing and talk about their jobs, defining not only their daily rounds, but their hopes and aspirations as well. q  “Into the Woods,” Lyrics and music by: Stephen Sondheim.

An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Riding Hood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? They're all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale. When a baker and his wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell – swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). q  “Schoolhouse Rock Live!”

A pop-culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage! The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs is lighting up stages everywhere.  Other beloved “Schoolhouse Rock” songs include “Just a Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly” and “Conjunction Junction.”  Visit http://www.mtishows.com/show_songs.asp?ID=000171 to hear songs.
