‘Love, Candy’ - An evening
of love songs and tales of romance
MARSHFIELD - Celebrate the Valentine’s Day Holiday
at “Love, Candy,” a cabaret co-produced with the
Performing Arts Series and award-winning singer and actress,
Candace Decker.
This performance is sponsored by the Laird Endowment for
the Arts and will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, in the Helen Connor Laird Theatre at UW-Marshfield/Wood
County. Tickets are $10 and ladies will receive a
complimentary rose at the door.
A pre-show champagne and dessert reception will be held
prior to the cabaret at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per person. To

Love, Candy will take the audience on a journey of love
found, love lost and all kinds of love in-between, as Ms.
Decker tells funny stories and sings touching love songs to
celebrate the Valentine’s Day holiday. Highlights from the
show include such classic songs as “My Romance,” “Orange
Colored Sky,” “My Funny Valentine” and contemporary cabaret
songs including “The Picture in the Hall,” “Sweet Dreams,”
and other musical surprises. Accompanist Craig LaPointe, who
recently played for Campus Community Players production
“Tomfoolery,” will join her on piano.
Ms. Decker is a recipient of the
“Chicago After Dark Award” for Best Actress in a musical, a
New York Cabaret Symposium Fellow, an Indiana Individual
Artist’s Grant and Laird Foundation Grant award winner. She
has appeared in cabarets throughout the East Coast and
Midwest performing with cabaret legends Sally Mayes, Julie
Wilson and Margaret Whiting. Ms. Decker produced the
“Cabaret Nouveau Series” for four years in Indiana bringing
cabaret artists from Chicago; Washington, D.C.; and
California to perform cabaret. As part of the “Cabaret
Nouveau Series,” she wrote and performed in the cabarets;
“Candy for the Holidays,” “Candy Canes & Dreidels,” “Love,
Candy,” “O’Candy!,” “Pieces of Candy,” “Candy and Friends”
and “Candyland – A Kids’ Cabaret.” In Marshfield, she
revived her cabaret “Candy for the Holidays” at the Chestnut
Center for the Arts in 2004.
Tickets
for Love, Candy are available at the Campus Box Office. The
Box Office is open 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Monday
through Friday and one hour before performances. Tickets
can be ordered by calling 389-6534. VISA, MasterCard and
Discover are accepted. All seating is reserved. Tickets are
non-refundable.
