UW Colleges
students take part in international computer programming
contest
Tom Van Hoof, a
UW-Marshfield/Wood County student, and Matthew Rainville, a
UW-Marathon County student, participated in the Nov. 5
regional International Collegiate Programming Contest held
at UW-Oshkosh.
Van Hoof teamed
up with a student from UW-Baraboo; Rainville was on a team
with two students from UW-Fox Valley. The teams competed
against 186 other teams, most of which were from four-year
schools whose three-person teams were comprised of juniors,
seniors and a graduate student.
Both Van Hoof’s
team and Rainville’s team and solved one of the nine
problems in the competition. Four teams from the UW Colleges
entered the contest. One team solved two problems and the
other team didn’t solve any. The University of Nebraska won
the contest, solving six of the nine.
