UW-Marshfield/Wood County
announces new men’s basketball coach
MARSHFIELD – Ron Wilczek, Marshfield, has been named men’s basketball
coach at UW-Marshfield/Wood County.
“I am excited
about the opportunity to coach basketball again and work
with college-student athletes,” Wilczek said. “I hope to build
on the foundation that the previous coaches have established at
UW-M/WC. There are a lot of good things happening at the
University of Wisconsin
–
Marshfield/Wood County and I am proud to be a part of this
institution”
Wilczek served
at assistant basketball coach at Greenwood High School from
1994-1997 and at Columbus High School, Marshfield, from
2000-2002. He was head coach at Columbus from 2003-2005. He
has a degree in finance from UW-Eau Claire.
“Ron brings a
lot of experience and success to our basketball program,” said
Andy Keogh, dean and campus executive officer. ”We’re
anticipating a winning season under his leadership.”
Wilczek
replaces Chris Linzmeier, who served as the basketball coach for
nine seasons. He was named “Coach of the Year” by the Wisconsin
Collegiate Conference in 1999-00 and 2002-03.
“We are
extremely grateful to Chris for his achievements during his time
here at ‘The Wood’,” said Keogh. “We wish him well in his
future endeavors.”
