Red, Hot … & Blue! to perform White Christmas at UW-M/WC

MARSHFIELD - The six-performer troupe Red, Hot ... & Blue! will perform their White Christmas at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Helen Laird Theatre in the Helen Connor Laird Fine Arts Building at UW-Marshfield/Wood County, 2000 W. 5th St.  The event is presented by Spotlight Series.

The troupe will take the audience on a nostalgic musical journey through the decades:  from the Raucous Ragtime Era to the Roaring ‘20s, from the Classic Jazz Era of the ‘30s to the Swingin' Sounds of the ‘40s and the Big Band Era, and from the Hilarious ‘50s to the Rockin' ‘60s and Disco ‘70s.  The performance will include fabulous award-winning costumes, hilarious wigs, quick-moving choreography, and precise vocals.

Christopher Tucker, the troupe’s creative producer & director, and Scott Sartain, associate producer, have performed worldwide, including performances in Branson, MO.  Both performed in the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes,” as bears.

The event is sponsored by Dave & Tania Meyer, Ameriprise Financial, and the Laird Endowment Fund for the Arts.

Tickets are $10 (16 & under); $16 (over 16). The Campus Box Office is open 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before performances.  To order tickets, call 715-389-6534.  VISA, MasterCard and Discover are accepted.

Upcoming arts events include the Spotlight Series presentation of “G.I. Jukebox – A Stage Door Canteen” at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25, Feb. 1 and 2.  A special dinner and performance will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 26.  Cost for the performance alone is $12.  The dinner and performance price is $29.

During WWII, Hollywood stars and starlets made it their duty to entertain “the boys.”  G.I. Jukebox is a night at the Stage Door Canteen.  Local talent will sing some of the best music of the 20th Century, which spans Big Band, Swing and Latin.  It’s a musical retrospective of an America we will never see again. The event is sponsored by the Laird Endowment Fund for the Arts.  For tickets call 715-389-6534.
