REGISTRATION RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR STUDENTS IN DEVELOPMENTAL CLASSES

30 Credit Rule (pg 28, UW Colleges Catalog 2003-2005) - If your scores on the English or mathematics placement tests indicate that you must enroll in remedial course work, UW policy requires that you complete successfully the remedial course(s) before you earn a total of 30 credits.  In addition, you may be required to limit the number of credits carried while you are enrolled in remedial courses.

If your placement test scores indicate that you must take Math 090 and/or Math 091, you may not take the following classes until you have successfully completed the appropriate math classes.

MAT 090 or MAT 091, DO NOT register for:

Any Math class (except MAT 090 or MAT 091) or class with MS designation

Astronomy (all)

Biology (BOT 130)

Business (BUS 201, 202, 204)

Chemistry (CHE 125, 145)

Computer Science (CPS 105, 107, 108, 110, 130, 216, 217)

Economics (all except ECO 101)

Engineering (all)

Philosophy (PHI 211)

Physics (all)

Psychology (PSY 210)

 

If your placement test scores indicate that you must take English 098 you may not take the following classes until you have successfully completed the appropriate English classes.

ENG 098, DO NOT register for:

Any English (except ENG 098)

Any course designated writing emphasis

Art (ART 188)

BUS 210

Communication and Theatre Arts (COM 103, 104, 105, 106, 130, 203, 204, 220, 221)

Computer Science (CPS 103, 110, 216, 217)

Economics (ECO 203, 204)

Education (all)

History (all)

Philosophy (all except PHI 101)

Sociology (200 level courses)

RECOMMENDED COURSES for students taking developmental Math or English courses:

Learning Skills, LEA102

Art (ART 101, 102, 111, 112, 141)

Computer Science (CPS 100, 101, 106)

Music (MUS 070-075, 173, 174)

Physical Education (all)

Political Science (POL 101, 104, 105)

Other non-restricted 100-level courses without prerequisites should also be considered with the help of a Student Services or faculty advisor.

 If your placement test scores indicate that you must take Math 090 or Math 091, and English 098, you must also enroll in the Learning Skills, LEA102.
